A season to remember for so many reasons

Liv Supplies FC [LIV] made history on the pitch this season, being the first ever Sunday Premier League team to go the full season with a 100% record, played 16 won 16, no draws and no losses – A great achievement at any level, in any era.

After a shaky start to the season, with so many important players leaving due to family work and other commitments, things were not looking good, however after the unfortunate situation of some clubs folding, LIV gladly welcomed the likes of Adam Ali, Craig Lindley, Gaz Water-house and Kassam Alwan to rebuild the club.

On November the 14th the club along with the whole of the East Riding Football Community, was hit for six with the sad loss of a massive player for LIV, Andy Martin. Andy had been with the club for 5 seasons and was like a scout to them, always bringing in new faces and on the look out for new talent, something he did at all ages and levels of football.

This sudden and sad loss brought the team together and reminded Neil Dransfield why he runs this club, all the lads got together the following day to play Drum and made a pace and style of play that every game from then on was for Andy.

Just a shame that Andy did not get to enjoy the rest of the season, but working with Andy’s dad, They were never going to let his name or what he’s done for local football be forgotten.

A charity has been put in place in his name and over the next few years, LIV are planning plenty in his memory,  football tournaments, white collier events and starting with the Liv Supplies Sportsman’s Dinner; [https://www.facebook.com/events/448333795362863/]  where all the profits will go to the Andy Martin Charity.

In further memory to this great man, we will be retiring the shirt Andy use to wear, this has been framed and signed by all players and will be presented to Andy’s family on the night.

Neil added “I’d also like to thank and wish Michael Betney all the best in the future, Mike is moving to Norwich  and will be leaving the club, He’s spent the last 9 years with the club, making over 200 appearances, winning every trophy on offer. Mike is a massive loss and will be missed at the club, not only has be been a great player, he’s a big personality in the dressing room, and he’ll be hard to replace”.

It’s been a memorable season for LIV Supplies, one that has been happy and sad, but one that will be remembered.
