FA Community Awards – An evening of inspiration, achievement and emotion

SMO had the absolute pleasure of being asked to cover the FA Community Awards at a reception based at their home Roy West Centre on Thursday 21st July.

SMO sat on the Voting panel of the Community Awards earlier in the year, and so it was a pleasure to spend time with and meet the winning candidates.

The evening which was impeccably organised by Football Development Officer Tom Lee, was opened by East Riding FA Chief Executive Adam Lowthorpe. George Michniewicz from McDonalds Franchise who support the awards then gave a speech before the presentation of the awards commenced.

The awards presented are as follows:

  • FA Charter Standard Club Award – Kingston Harriers AFC
  • FA Charter Standard Development Club Award – Bridlington Rangers Juniors
  • FA Charter Standard Community Club Award – Heslerton JFC
  • FA Charter Standard League Award – East Riding Ability Counts
  • FA Young Volunteer of the Year Award – Oliver Adamson
  • FA Volunteer of the Year Award – Alicia Mail
  • FA Peoples Choice Award – Outstanding Contribution to Football (County) – Andrew Lee Martin
  • FA Peoples Choice Award – Outstanding Contribution to Football (Regional) – Andrew Lee Martin

It was an emotional close to the evening as Andrew Lee Martin’s parents Jenny and Andy accepted the awards on his behalf. Don’t forget you can continue to support Andy in his National Nomination in the FA Peoples Choice Awards by clicking here.
