Next up was the John Martin Award for services to football.

This year the award went to Mr Pete Smith, for his many years of service to helping grassroots football in the area.

At the AGM it was announced that the Mini Soccer Leagues would be named after Kath Dawson in her memory, from season 2016/17.

It was also announced that a new award would be presented, the Kath Dawson Award for services to Mini Soccer.

We were delighted that Kath’s Husband Peter and son Rich came along to make the very first presentation of the Award, which went to Mally Rhodes, Westella & Willerby.

Mr John Suddards was presented with an award for 25 years service on the League Committee.

Congratulations to everyone who received an award on Monday.

Announcements

As well as the touching announcement of Kath Dawson being commemorated in the renaming of mini soccer leagues. The League also announced that it will change its name from season 2016/17 to the Hull and District Youth Football League.

With girls now playing mixed football all the way from Under 7 through to Under 18, and Teams from across the area playing in the League, it was felt the name needed to change to reflect the football provided for.
