The Rangers side comprised of fans, volunteer football coaches, Managers and current veterans players all who were keen to impress against the city legends.

In front of a bumper crowd all preparing for the first ever Rangers Day tournament the dominance of the ex tigers was ascertained from the get go as they passed the ball around smoothly and confidently.  Undeterred thought and led by Captains for the day Bri Kidd and Chris Shenton the Rangers boys where undeterred striding on well and making it difficult for the ex city boys.

The passing moves paid off early on when Mark Greaves latched on to the end of a great bit of interplay involving Dean Windass to slot past stranded Rangers keeper Mathew Vass.  Rangers shored up their defences at the rear with the inclusion of some of Tony Hardy’s veteran players and the 1-0 lead lasted deep into the second half when Sandy Saville got the first of a brace on 65 minutes.  His second came on 85 minutes to round off the scoring at 3-0 and secure the Primary Tec trophy for the ex tigers for the second year running.

The game against the ex tigers was followed by a mini tournament which saw Clee Town BJB run out winners in the SMO Under 8s trophy group, Spring Head FC run out winners in the Motor Depot Under 9s trophy and Hall Road Rangers run out winners in the McAusland and turner Under 10s trophy.

The event, which is hoped to be expanded next season into a full summer football tournament was well received by all and helped raised much needed funds for Life For a Kid.
