Later this month, the East Riding County Football League are holding an anniversary dinner to celebrate 110 years, having been first formed in 1906.
The event is taking place during the evening of Friday 31 March 2017 and is being held at The Country Park on Hessle Foreshore.
Compered by the league’s current Secretary, Roger Smith, there will be an opening address from the league’s current Chairman, Chris Bodsworth, and anecdotes from one of the league’s longstanding committee members, Pete Smurthwaite. In addition to being the league’s Minutes Secretary Pete is the chairman of Bridlington Town AFC and and a regular guest on BBC Radio Humberside’s Sportstalk.
There will also be a mini exhibition showcasing memorabilia from across the league’s history, including a rare opportunity to see the league’s entire trophy collection on display.
Whether you’re a current or past player / manager / club secretary or supporter of one of the league’s clubs, or just have an interest in local grassroots football, everyone is welcome to join in with the celebration of this remarkable milestone.
Tickets are still available, priced at £27.50 per person, and include a three course meal followed by tea / coffee. (Tables of 10 / 12 are also available)
