MATCH REPORT: Beverley Town 5 – Riccall United 1

Beverley went into the game looking to improve on last weeks disappointing performance against Old Malton.

Manager Rich Jagger made changes both in personnel and shape, with Joe Norton, Stu Oliver and Ben Thompson all coming into the side as part of a 3-5-2 formation.

Town started very well, after only 10 minutes found themselves 1-0 up after the energetic Matty Littlefield slipped the offside trap and coolly slotted past the Riccall Keeper.

Town continued to play with a purpose and intensity, however against the run of play conceded after a free kick on the edge of their box deflected out wide and the Riccall winger fired past the stranded Mathew Spencer in Towns goal.

Half time 1-1

Town started the second half well, and in the searing heat kept the ball which was starting to tire the Riccall side. On 60 minutes Nathan White came on up front and shortly after produced a stunning goal from well over 40 yards out.  The ball was fed through to White who again sprang the offside trap, and after a quick look over his shoulder saw the keeper well off his line and struck a long range shot in the top corner.  Town were now well on top as Riccall struggled to get a hold of the ball, on 70 minutes Town went 3-1 up when James Smith finished off an nice passing move that started with Towns Keeper. Nathan White added a 4th on 80 minutes and could have sealed a hatrick minutes later when his shot struck the crossbar.

On 90 minutes Town made it 5-1 when debutant Aldo Hysenaj scored the goal of the game, a 30 yard screamer that nestled in the top corner leaving the keeper no chance.

Final score Beverley Town 5-1 Riccall United. On the final whistle Manager Rich Jagger was pleased with his teams performance “I thought the lads were excellent today. The defence looked comfortable with the different shape, midfield worked well and Matty Littlefield up front was a constant threat.  Everyone involved  today should be pleased with their contribution “

Town face a tough trip away to East Yorkshire Carnegie next Saturday 13th August  which will be their last pre season friendly before the season starts on 20th August.
