Hall Road Rangers 2 – 0 Worsborough Bridge

CHRIS Spinks once again proved to be Hall Road Rangers go-to man of the moment as he capped his weekend FA Vase hat-trick, with a well-taken brace in his side’s 2-0 win over Worsbrough Bridge on Tuesday evening.

The former Westella man once again played a starring role for Rangers to produce two moments of sheer quality to earn his side the maximum points.  Rangers started brightly from the get go with Josh Batty terrorising the back four and hitting the bar in just the 7th minute to strike fear into the Worsbrough hearts.

Rangers took the lead through Spinks after some neat interplay that dissected the Worsbrough defence and made the side net bulge.  The 27 year old netted just 16 minutes into Tuesday night’s NCEL Division One tie as Rangers were largely comfortable throughout the evening.

With James Piercy particularly solid in defence, and the likes of Danny Norton at full-back and Tom Bennett providing many dangerous runs into opposition territory throughout the evening, Rangers lacked a killer edge in front of goal which would of seen their opponents killed off a lot sooner.

Although Rangers keeper Phil Dobson was largely a spectator throughout, the scoreline still provided a nervy edge until Spinks popped up in added time at the end of the game with yet another fine strike to make sure of the points.

As he collected the ball wide on the right flank, Spinks had it all to do, but after neatly cutting inside, he danced past two covering defenders along the way and unleashed an unstoppable left-foot effort which nestled into the far corner.

Hall Road supremo Dave Ricardo although pleased with the result, admitted:

“The result was better than the performance tonight, we’ve done well in patches and full credit goes to Worsborough, they’ve come to us with a game plan and we have found them hard to break down at times.

The work-rate was excellent from us again as it always is, and tonight in terms of an attacking threat it has been decided by two excellent pieces of magic from Chris Spinks.”

Rangers will now turn their attention to the weekend when they will invite Dronfield Town to Haworth Park.  The encounter between 8th placed Rangers and 15th placed Dronfield has the potential to push Rangers back up the table into the play off places.  Kick off will be 3pm at Haworth Park.
