Hall Road Rangers came down to earth with a bump on Saturday when then came up against a classy Hallam side going down 4-1 at home.  Rangers have got off to a flyer this season winning their two opening games and second round of the cup.  Hallam proved to be a step too far though for Dave Ricardos men and the reality check was provided by the boys from the oldest Football ground in the world.

“Getting beat today will give players, supporters etc a reminder that if we do not individually and collectively play at our best teams in this league will get the better of us.”

“We missed the likes of James Piercy, Jamie Reeson, Alex Sherwood and Tom Bennent today but we had more than enough to get a result with the squad we had out.”

Tim Whittaker got the scoring up and running in the 21st minute with a soft goal from inside the six-yard box.  Controversy surrounded the second as Steve Brammer netted from the penalty spot after referee Ben Cass awarded the spot kick.  This despite Brad Ricketts appearing to get a toe to the ball in the cleanly won tackle.

Half time came and went and Tom Roebuck grabbed a third on 66 minutes before Michael Blythern added insult to injury with a fourth on 75 minutes.  Rangers weren’t without their chances however as Chris Spinks, Joe Cooper and Scott Phillips all had good chances to score saved or go just wide.

Some respect was recovered as Captain Ash Dexter grabbed a consolation goal on 82 minutes to make the final score 4-1.

“Full credit to Ryan Hindley and the lads as they deserved the win.”  Concluded Ricardo “At 2-0 down we had two very good chances to get back in it, however,  it wasn’t meant to be. We will train well this week and make sure we give our all next Saturday in order to get another 3 points”

Rangers will next travel to local rivals Westella and Willerby on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways.
