MATCH REPORT: Hall Road Rangers (Reserves) vs Hornsea Town

0

Hall Road Rangers Reserves played their first league home game of the season on Saturday at Haworth Park going down 5-4 to last season’s relegated Hornsea Town.

Rightly or wrongly the reserves first home fixture of the season went ahead without a recognised match official.  They came to spoil the party and within 8 mins the visitors scored an easy opener.

Ranger’s young teams had their resolve tested and responded fairly rapid with a sweet finish from the training ground from James Tullett . Again Hornsea went in front with off the ball work lacking from Hall Road . But for some excellent work by keeper Luke Cotton Hornsea could have been out of sight by the break.

Unfortunately for cotton injury ended his game on 30 minutes with Darren Hemmings coming off the bench to becoming a worthy understudy. This seemed to spur ranges into life and a goal from Jacob Todd after good work by Mobarak Dahnug levelled the game.

On top and awarded a penalty that Jack Love converted the game was in the balance. A massive game changing decision saw rangers denied what seemed a stone wall penalty, and not given the resulting breakaway let to a goal for Hornsea making it 3-3 at the break.

The second half was somewhat of a quieter affair with forward play from Todd and Cording been the main platform for all that was good for Rangers.

An excellent save from Hornsea keeper, Greensides, from Cording probably turned out to be the match winner with the visitors pushing into the lead 4-3 and looking good for victory.

This very young Rangers side doesn’t know it’s beat tho and they found the net again on 89 from Callum Keenan after excellent work from Cording.

Game over? Another twist with Hornsea striker Louis Reeve taking the points in added time. Excellent performances all round from Hemmings, Thames, Hotte and all, too many to mention.

A big thank you to Alan Baker who was the match ball sponsor. Many thanks again for all those that sponsor Hall Road Rangers Reserves for the coming season.
