MATCH REPORT: Hanson Jewellers vs Beverley Town FC

Beverley went into this game with 6 players missing due to holidays.  However this didn’t cause any problems as town breezed past newly promoted Hanson Jewellers.

On the back of a good win mid week against Reckitts Beverley were full of confidence, and started the game well without really taking control.  However the game sprung to life in a devastating 2 minute spell.  Town striker Matty Littlefield slotted a right footed drive into the top corner on 25 minutes after a neat ball from skipper Nathan White, 2 minutes later Littlefield claimed his second when Ben Thompson played a perfect free kick to the back post and Littlefield powered a header into the far corner.

Half time 0-2

Town were determined to build on their lead, and similar to the first half, a 3 minute spell destroyed any hopes Hanson Jewellers had of getting back in the game. On 48 minutes Town stalwart Matt Dixon glanced home a perfect header after a good move down the left, Littlefield got his hatrick on 51 minutes with a cool finish, and on 52 minutes Kegan Rose made it 5 nil to Town after a sweeping move down the right flank.

Town were now full of confidence and playing with freedom. This was optimised by the 6th goal on 76 minutes, when central defender Ryan Saltmer showed for a short free kick mid way in the opponents half. Saltmer took the ball past 2 defenders with series of step overs that put them out of the game, he then took aim and rifled a 30 yard pile driver that cannoned off the bar and into the back of the net. The keeper did well to get a hand on it , particularly as it looked like the shot took a slight deflection on the way in.

Matty Littlefield made it 7 nil 3 minutes from time with an excellent finish, and Town saw the game out to register a 0-7 win away from home.

Town manager Rich Jagger was full of praise at full time “the lads played well in difficult conditions today. I was really pleased how well Matt Dixon and Ben Fletcher fitted into the starting 11 and thought they were both excellent.  We have been threatening a big win for a while and it’s a great boost to score 7. Matty Littlefield is on fire at the moment, he’s top scorer in the league with 7 in 5 games and he’s got a load more goals to come I’m sure. We don’t have a game next Saturday which will provide a number of players the chance to rest as a number have been carrying knocks over the last 2 weeks.”
