HALL ROAD RANGERS manager Dave Ricardo believes the arrival of Ash Allanson from Bridlington Town will boost the quality of his squad as Rangers look to build on their promising start to the season. The signing of midfielder Allanson, follows the double capture earlier in the week of goalkeeper Phil Dobson and striker Josh Batty to bolster the ranks at Haworth Park further.

Allanson left Bridlington Town earlier this week after eight years with the Seasiders and revealed on his Facebook account, his excitement at signing for Hall Road after taking part in his first training session with his new team-mates on Wednesday evening.

“Delighted to have joined Hall Road Rangers 1st training session was excellent with a great tempo! Looking forward to Saturday already Thank you David Ricardo for this new, exciting venture. Looking forward to working closely with Dave and Billy Gill and the players!”

Speaking following the arrival of Allanson, Rangers supremo Ricardo revealed: “Ash adds quality and experience and will assist in bringing the younger players on. The group of players we have are a fantastic bunch who work hard for each other and individually, Ash will buy into that straight away as that is the ethos of the squad.” Allanson, 29 joins initially as a player, but Ricardo refused to rule out a role which could see his new signing join the coaching staff in the future.

“Later down the line Ash will assist Billy Gill, who does such a great job, in the coaching side. It is important first though, for getting Ash up to speed in playing terms which is the priority and helping us get a foothold in the top 6.” The signing of Allanson is a welcome boost in terms of numbers following the recent departures from Haworth Park of Jamie Forrester and Jake Vernon. These thoughts were echoed by Ricardo: “Ash Allanson’s arrival gives the squad a boost especially in the midfield department where we have lost quality players in Jake Vernon and Jamie Forrester recently.” Allanson joins Hall Road after eight years at Bridlington Town which included winning the NCEL Premier Division title in 2010, and multiple ERCFA Senior Cup successes. He also had aspell with Farsley Celtic, for whom he left for Bridlington in 2008. Allanson, alongside both Josh Batty and Phil Dobson are available to make their debuts when Hall Road make the trip to Grimsby Borough on Saturday.
