Hessle High School and Sixth Form College, part of The Hessle Academy Community Trust has celebrated the opening of its brand new Leisure Centre with some unique branding following a partnership with local sports platform SMO.

The Executive Headteacher Sarah Young and the PE Teachers worked closely with marketing agency Pink Mac Group, who also run SMO to create a look for the centre that would inspire students and external visitors alike.

Sarah Young added “It was critical for both myself and the PE team to ensure the Leisure Centre is visually appealing, as well as inspirational for the students. We focussed on sports and sports leaders and motivational quotes to help bring that inspiration to life, ensuring everyone understands the value of involvement in sport”.

The brand new Sports Facility will be available for use by the local community and offers a purpose-built modern environment for all sports including an Activity Studio, Sports Hall and Dance Studio. The school already offers a wide range of pitches and facilities to local sports teams and is looking to grow its role in Sport within the community.

Sarah added: “We worked with SMO to help us engage with both the students at the school and local sports teams. Having the modern visuals and the SMO style helps us to create a legacy in the centre as their presence rapidly grows across the City. We are delighted to be working in partnership with SMO to promote amateur sports”.

A clear favourite with students and staff has been the giant visual of Sir Alex Ferguson which features on the centres stairwell, clearly keeping an eye on the performance. The centre also features a unique ‘Wall of Fame’ where achievements of the students can be recorded for years to come, realising the Hessle Sport moto, ‘where your history begins’.
