Brand new 11-a-side football league launches in Hull

The East Riding County FA are encouraging males to get together and enter a team in a newly formed 11-a-side mid-week football league. Starting On Monday 27th June at Kingswood Academy in Hull the Floodlight Football League aims to capitalise on the feast of football this summer by offering a new and exciting way of playing the beautiful game without the traditional pressures associated with playing in a traditional Saturday or Sunday league.

Chris Johnson – Just Play Development Officer at ERCFA

“The Floodlight Football League offers a really exciting opportunity for players old and new to get out on the pitch and take part in a well-run and inexpensive form of 11-a-side football. With Euro 2016 wetting the football appetite of many people across the region we want to capitalise on this feast of football and encourage people to start enjoying their football again. This is a really exciting offer and we encourage people to get in touch to find out more about the league.”

This exciting league is the East Riding County FA’S latest attempt to halt the decline in 11-a-side football participation and will offer a flexible version of the nation’s favourite game. In recent years we have seen a national decline in adults playing the traditional version of football with a lack of time and poor facilities being cited as the main reasons. The Floodlight Football League will offer 50 minute games and very low administration with flexible kick off times which means it has never been easier people to get back out on the pitch and replicate the exploits of their Euro 2016 heroes.

The league costs £30 to enter and then only £40 per game and with the season lasting 12 weeks it means that this is an extremely affordable and timely way of getting your football fix this summer. For more information or to register your team people should contact Just Play Football Development Officer Chris Johnson on 01482 221158 or chris.johnson@eastridingfa.com .

Adam Lowthorpe – ERCFA Chief Executive

“I am delighted we are able to offer a new exciting opportunity to play football. Many people for a variety of lifestyle reasons struggle to commit to a regular 11-a-side season. We hope this new Floodlight Football League offer will encourage more adults to get back playing football, especially with Euro 2016 taking place on our doorstep”.
