Where do I start, the Girls were so up for this game today. Mill Lane had knocked them out of the County Cup a couple of months ago and were the only team so far to beat us since May 2015 – this was enough to fire them up.

United started fantastically and we’re camped in the Mill Lane half at the start of the game, a fantastic early goal from Dan on 7 minutes put us ahead. The ball played into her feet just outside of the box, dead centre – one touch around the defender and a looping strike into the back of the net 1-0.

Absolutely superb start, the majority of the first half was quite similar with United in the Mill Lane half of the pitch. That said Mill Lane did have some great efforts with quick breaks, many were thwarted by the United midfield and defence but there were some clear cut chances saved by Demi and others missed.

United continued to be strong and the Mill Lane defence were too, keeping them out, it wasn’t until 34 minutes that the ball was played centrally to Holly JC she looked to be taking it too wide as she got to the right hand corner of the 18yd box but then stuck across goal to hit a perfect shot inside the far side netting 2-0 United.

The second half really was a game of cat and mouse with both sides not putting away a number of chances and completely cancelling each other out.

I know I’ve only mentioned the Goals but there were stand out performances all over the pitch today and I spoke you all individually.

I am so, so proud of all if you Girls you really are a pleasure to coach and watch play. Massive well done to – Demi, Lauren, Jodie, Kasia, Sam, Millie, Holly D, Keziah, Holly J, Dan, Hope, Mia, Ellie, Chloe, Evie and Katelin.
