Hull's First Walking Football Club

Hull’s first official Walking Football Club has launched from Soccer Kings. The ‘Hull Pace Makers Walking Football Club’  is open to anyone who wants to get back into football and start playing the beautiful game again regardless of their age, ability or experience.

Originally set up by East Riding County FA as part of the FA Mars Just Play recreational football programme the turn-up and play football session has since evolved into a fully-fledged affiliated football club with a committee and chairman appointed now appointed.

Club Chairman Chris Johnson said “This is an extremely proud moment for me as I was instrumental in the creation of the original turn up and play football session. We have a really fantastic group of people here who turn out week in week out with boundless enthusiasm and energy which has helped the transition to status seamless. The club has a really bright future ahead of us and I look forward to welcoming more people into this brilliant club”.

With over 30 active members the club is comfortably one of the largest in the region and offers participants a friendly and relaxed kick about in a welcoming environment. Unique to the Hull Pace Makers is the fact that it is open to anyone regardless of sex or age. Traditionally walking football clubs have restricted their membership to people aged 50 and over but with a number of female and younger players already members it was felt that nobody should be excluded from participating in the nation’s favourite game.

Hull Pace Makers will make their first foray in competitive football in September when they travel over to Grimsby to take part in Grimsby Ancient Mariners Walking Football tournament. The club will also be sending a team over to Portugal early in the New Year to take part in the Algarve Walking Football Festival which is being organised by local man Phil Rowland.

If you would like to join Hulls only Walking Football Club then simply attend one of their turn up and play sessions. Your first session is completely free with the club hoping to encourage as many people as possible to get back out on the pitch playing again. Sessions currently take place on Mondays (6-7pm) and Fridays (1-2pm) at Soccer Kings, Oslo Road, Sutton Fields Industrial Estate, Hull HU7 0YN.
