Hall Road Rangers travelled the short distance to Selby Town on Saturday in the second to last of their gruelling end of season fixture list. Going down 1-0 to the home side Martin Thacker’s boys still managed to put in a spirited and determined performance but failed to penetrate the Robin’s defence.
“We lacked a small amount of quality today” said Thacker. “A little bit more quality in key areas of the pitch and it would be been a different story, with the fixture pile up though the lads just ran out of a little bit of steam towards the end”
Selby had everything to play for however as with others results going their way and a win under their belt they are propelled into 10th spot in the NCEL Division one and the possibility of entering into next season’s FA Cup. The only goal of the game came from Chris Jackson on 28 minutes. Martin Jones thought he’d equalised for Rangers only for the ever present linesman’s flag to go up signalling off side. With Dale Hawksworth limping off with what appeared to be a hamstring injury it was never going to be Ranger’s day.
The last game of Ranger’s season is on Monday night away at Westella VIP in Barton and Martin Thacker will be looking to end the season on a high. Kick off will be 7:45 at The Euronics Ground.
