PRE-MATCH REPORT: Westella & Willerby vs Hall Road Rangers – Source Westella & Willerby

Written by

This weekend sees Westella & Willerby welcome local rivals Hall Road Rangers to Tue Euronics Ground, Barton with a 3-00pm kickoff.

A game in which the visitors wouldn’t swap to be played this Friday evening will spur manager Leon Sewell and his side on as they look to pick up their first points of the NCEL division one season.

Last Saturday, Westella fell narrowly to a 2-1 away defeat at Dronfield Town, Rob Dodson scoring with 20 minutes remaining but Westella just couldn’t find the equalising goal they needed.

Tuesday evening saw Westella on the road again against a very impressive Pontefract Collieries who stormed into a 3-0 lead. Second half Westella managed to redeem themselves getting a consolation goal through the returning Alex Wood after Daniel Holiday drew a low save from the Pontefract goalkeeper.

“We’ve had it tough the last few games, losing narrowly against some very well organised sides but we will continue to keep scrapping away as we look to get off the mark”

“The NCEL division one is a tough and ruthless league and when you have 9 senior players missing it makes things slightly harder in order of picking points up that we need”

“Saturday is another game that we will give it our all and make sure we are well drilled in how I want the lads to apply themselves in what will be an entertaining game”
