Rangers KCOM Hopes

Written by

Dave Ricardo’s men take a break from NCEL action tomorrow as they resume their East Riding Senior Cup campaign with an away game against Hanson Jewellers at Kelvin Hall School.

Both sides know that a win will move them to within 90 minutes of the East Riding FA’s local showpiece at the Kcom Stadium, likely to be scheduled for May.

Rangers face a Hanson Jewellers side, who were formerly known as AFC Hunters, a club with a proud local football history. Rangers will have to guard against complacency when they meet the Humber Premier League outfit on Saturday as in the last round they stunned Westella & Willerby to set up this clash.

Whilst Dave Ricardo’s men obvious priority is the league, as they sit third in the NCEL First Division, in this competition, Rangers remain two matches away from a final which will once again provide the players with an opportunity to perform at a Premier League stadium, a just reward for the fine progress the club has made under Ricardo and his assistant Bill Gill.

Hall Road have already beaten one Humber Premier League side already in the competition and will know what to expect from a side that although sit second bottom in their division are more then capable of springing an upset if not taken seriously.  Ricardo may see this as an opportunity to offer some minutes to some players who have not featured as regular recently although this has not been confirmed, and with Tuesday’s home game with Winterton Rangers again falling foul to the weather for the second time, this may not be the case as he has a fully fit squad to choose from.

Entry is free and supporters are reminded this game is a 2pm kick off, with the prospect of extra time and then penalties should scores be level after 90 minutes.
